The YMCA Climbing Centre will be will be a place to learn to climb for beginners, have many exciting features that will challenge intermediates, as well as plenty of features for the seasoned climbers too.

With a new and modern feel, there will be a wide range of holds and volumes, all built to the highest European standards.


  • 15m high main wall with lead, top rope and 17 auto belays
  • IFSC Olympic standard speed wall with timer, for competitions and speed climbing
  • 15m climbing wall and overhand, with 19 lines with over 40 routes
  • Vertical and slab climbing; including lead routes, top ropes and auto belays
  • 6m top rope area with five lines and over 10 routes
  • Three bouldering areas with seven coloured circuits, totalling 80+ boulder problems, catering for beginner, intermediate and advanced boulderers
  • Clip ‘n Climb area, geared towards young people, with 12 different challenges
  • 6m top rope training wall with 5 belays

The climbing hall is taking shape, with the 12 different Clip ‘n Climb wall features ready for when we open fully later this year.

This area will be where younger climbers and beginners can start their climbing journey to practice and hone various skills, from fingertip strengthening to reach and flexibility.
