What is Camp Newark?

YMCA Newark and Sherwood’s school holiday day camp is an affordable programme that delivers interactive activities for children aged 5-12 in Newark and the surrounding areas.

Camp Newark welcomes week or day bookings so your child can enjoy a range of exciting activities. We believe that every child deserves equal opportunities to access life-changing experiences and fulfil their potential. That is why teaching and encouraging young people to try new things is our absolute priority.

What to expect…

All campers get to take part in a variety of exciting group activities over the course of a week, including everything from sports (football, basketball, cricket, hockey etc.) to camp games (such as dodgeball, ‘capture the flag’, ‘scatterball’ and Danish longball). Our experienced leaders create a safe environment for developing skills, friendships and confidence, with young people being able to enjoy arts and crafts, camp rallies, board games and so much more!

Camp provides children with opportunities to form positive life values and work together to build memories that will last a lifetime. By demonstrating the charity’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, campers are presented with certificates and awards.

Parent Resources

To gain a better insight into what to expect from Camp Newark, download our Parent Handbook below – please ensure you read our Parent Handbook and sign a media consent form before your child attends camp.

Our belief is that young people with access to these camps and our role model Camp Leaders will make healthier choices as they grow into adults.  The  programme is action-packed, adventure driven and experience focused, and really engages with young people in a way they might not experience anywhere else.
