Football is coming home and our very own Amy Oakes, is sport and family service manager, at the Village, Amy played for South Notts and was scouted for England.

‘‘It’s been hugely encouraging to see the rise in popularity of girls and women’s football, we have football sessions running throughout the summer holidays for young people every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and would love to see girls at these sessions.”

Newark Town Football Club, who’s girls and Ladies First Team all train at the Village have a designated Girls Section and Girls Development Centre to develop and nurture girls in teams from ages Under 8s to Under 16s.

Sarah Robinson, Vice Chair, Newark Town Football Club, said: “We’ve noticed a real spike in the interest in girls and ladies’ football and fortunately for our club we have been able to accommodate this growth area. It’s really encouraging seeing the youngsters come through to us on a regular basis and we have players from Under 8s to Under 16s who can jump on a player pathway which could ultimately lead to our Ladies First Team.”
