Unveiling of the Impressive Outdoor Fitness Space

The YMCA Community & Activity Village is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its highly anticipated Outdoor Fitness Space at the YMCA Village in Newark. This exciting addition provides a unique opportunity for individuals of all ages and abilities to engage in invigorating workouts in an expansive open-air environment. The space features innovative equipment and is designed to cater to the diverse fitness needs of the community.

Todd Cauthorn, Executive Director, YMCA Newark & Sherwood, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to introduce the Outdoor Fitness Space to the community. It reflects our commitment to promoting health and well-being through accessible and engaging exercise options. This new facility allows our members and community users to experience the benefits of outdoor training whilst enjoying Newark’s beautiful weather.

FCC Communities Foundation’s funding support has contributed to the development of our Outdoor Fitness Space. Additionally, they provided support for our Multi-Use Courts, which have been in use since 2021. Their commitment to promoting active lifestyles continues to support the community.”

The Outdoor Fitness Space, accessible through double doors from the Strength & Conditioning gym, provides a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor training. Located just off the car park, visitors to the YMCA Village will instantly see to this impressive addition.

With three main areas equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, individuals can engage in a wide range of fitness activities, including cardio, strength training, and functional workouts. The YMCA Robin Hood Group, with the majority of the funding contributed from FCC Communities Foundation a valued YMCA Partner, helped make this project a reality. Their support has allowed for the incorporation of innovative equipment designed to enhance the fitness journey of individuals with disabilities.
