Our most recent ChangeMakers cohort brought their programme to a close with a homemade afternoon tea at Gladstone House.
Residents and young people came together over scones, jam and plenty of conversation, before proudly receiving their certificates of achievement.
One resident reflected on the experience, sharing:
“It’s lovely to see the young people converse with us. It’s as good for them as it is us.”

Together with other young people, ChangeMakers create and implement community action projects to make a real difference. You could choose to work on projects such as:
- Equality and social justice
- Environment and sustainability
- Local safety
- Youth wellbeing and support
- Cultural exchange
Projects are youth-led, but are supported by partners from across the Developmental Assets project in and around Newark. You’ll be helped by staff and volunteers during weekly sessions to make your ideas real and put change into action.
Our next ChangeMakers cohort, begins on Tuesday 2 September, 4–6pm at YMCA Newark and Sherwood Community and Activity Village and running every other week. In partnership with The Woodland Trust, young people will have the opportunity to design and plant in a local park, creating a space the whole community can enjoy.
The ChangeMakers programme is free to join, fun, and a chance to make a real difference.
