Overview

Inspire Days at YMCA Village are half-day taster sessions that bring students out of the classroom and into a vibrant community hub. Led by YMCA Youth Leaders and specialist coaches, students will take part in a wide range of activities that combine physical activity, creative expression, and teamwork.

  • Format: Afternoons (approx. 4 hours)
  • Schools per event: Up to four
  • Cost: £180 per school
  • Capacity: 12 students per school. Just £15 per student.
  • Led by: YMCA Youth Leaders and specialist coaches

We tailor Inspire Days to the age and needs of your students, ensuring the right mix of challenge, creativity, and teamwork. Primary and secondary schools are booked on separate days, so the experience is always age-appropriate and relevant.

Every Inspire Day is underpinned by YMCA’s Mind, Body, Spirit ethos and our internationally recognised Developmental Assets framework, helping students grow in confidence, resilience, and connection.

We believe every child and young person deserves a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become. Inspire Days bring that belief to life through challenge, creativity and connection.

Our Approach – Grounded in Developmental Assets

At YMCA, we know that long-lasting growth happens when young people feel supported, challenged, and inspired. That’s why Inspire Days are built on the Developmental Assets framework, a proven approach that strengthens the building blocks every child needs to thrive.

We embed this approach into every activity and interaction:

  • Fostering Care and Connection – Creating safe, welcoming environments where young people feel valued, trusted, and part of a community.
  • Challenging Growth with Purpose – Encouraging students to stretch themselves, learn from setbacks, and discover their resilience.
  • Providing Consistent Support – Guiding young people through challenges, setting healthy boundaries, and helping them take charge of their future.
  • Sharing Power and Encouraging Leadership – Giving students a voice, involving them in decisions, and providing opportunities to lead.
  • Expanding Horizons and Opportunities – Connecting young people to new experiences and mentors, inspiring confidence, aspiration, and ambition.

This approach ensures Inspire Days are not only fun and memorable but also impactful, equipping students with skills and mindsets that support their wellbeing and success in school and beyond.
