Hospitality Manager

As Hospitality Manager, you will be an instrumental figure in the setting up and running of the fantastic Community Café and Conferencing space at the brand new YMCA Community & Activity Village in Newark.

Involved from day 1, you will recruit your new team, identify suppliers and work with the kitchen team to develop our offering. This is a truly unique opportunity to get involved from the beginning of a fantastic community project.

On a day to day basis, you can expect your role to include:

  • Ensuring the successful day-to-day running of the café and conference facilities
  • Providing excellent front of house service at all times including for bespoke events
  • Ensuring the Café and Conference facilities achieve targets, standards and meet budgets
  • Handling customer queries in relation to hiring spaces and processing bookings
  • Coordinating and delivering events and bookings
  • Creating high quality product selection
  • Promoting a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment
  • Recruiting, managing and developing a team

Job Purpose

  1. Ensuring the successful day-to-day running of the café and conference facilities
  2. Providing excellent front of house service at all times including for bespoke events

  4. Handling customer queries in relation to hiring spaces and processing bookings
  5. Coordinating and delivering events and bookings
  6. Creating high quality product selection
  7. Promoting a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the rota for the Café and Conference facilities.
  2. Recruitment and induction for all new starters, following HR processes.
  3. Act as the first point of contact for Hospitality staff including processing staff holiday requests and managing absence.
  4. Line Management of all Hospitality staff.
  5. Plan and deliver training sessions for staff.
  6. Ensure excellent quality of service and products are delivered professionally by the team.
  7. Checking the back of house events system and ensuring all booking and events are managed
  8. Ensure queries received in person, over the phone and via email are responded to in a professional and timely manner
  9. Administrate bookings on the back of house system.
  10. Serve drink and food products efficiently and to a high quality, with an active interest and enthusiasm for products
  11. Manage and motivate Staff to promote a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment
  12. Ensure all statutory and internal regulations regarding hygiene, safety and cleanliness are met Manage staff to abide by all statutory and internal regulations regarding hygiene, safety and cleanliness are met in line with safeguarding regulations
  13. Trained Fire Warden.
  14. Trained First Aider.
  15. Hold licencing responsibilities.
