The visit coincided with a summer training session for YMCA Camp Williams, Camp Leaders, where Soheila shared her personal journey with the YMCA. Soheila spoke about the vital role the YMCA played during the Lebanese civil war, delivering crucial aid and medical supplies as the only neutral organisation. “The YMCA’s ability to adapt and meet the needs of children and young people is truly remarkable,” she said. She detailed how the YMCA became a lifeline during the conflict, and after the war, it became a key partner to the Ministry of Public Health, delivering medicine to over 500 dispensaries. This powerful testimony highlighted the enduring impact of the YMCA’s mission worldwide and its resonance within local communities like Newark.
