Excitement Peaked at the YMCA Climbing Centre
The YMCA Climbing Centre was buzzing with excitement and competitive spirit on Saturday, 28 September, as the BMC Youth Climbing Series descended for a thrilling day of climbing. This prestigious competition, renowned for attracting hundreds of young climbers nationwide, showcased the talent, determination, and passion of the sport’s rising stars.
The day saw young competitors from across the UK gather to tackle climbing routes with the aim of advancing through the regional rounds of the BMC Youth Climbing Series. Climbers compete in designated regions nationwide. With an inclusive approach, the competition fosters a supportive environment for both first-time participants and experienced climbers.
Luke Mansfield, YMCA Climbing Manager, loved hosting the event. “Hosting the BMC Youth Climbing Series here at the YMCA Climbing Centre has been a real privilege. The energy and passion from these young climbers have been inspiring, and the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic. We’re incredibly grateful to our team and volunteers for making it happen.”
The YMCA Climbing Centre, opened in October 2022, has quickly become a thriving community to climbers of all ages. Our National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) accredited classes offer budding climbers the perfect opportunity to learn and refine their skills in a state-of-the-art setting.
Amanda Reed, whose daughter Aggie competed enthused about the day, “What a fantastic day, the YMCA is a great setting, it’s been a really supportive environment and so good to see all these children climbing so brilliantly.”
The YMCA Climbing Centre offers climbers of all abilities the chance to experience world class coaching in this modern facility. Our venue played host to climbers aged eight to 17 during the Youth Climbing Series, making for an unforgettable day of action and achievement.
As the climbers prepared to leave, excitement for the upcoming Grand Final was building. and the BMC Youth Climbing Series continues to be a highlight for young climbers across the UK.
