Over £6,000 raised supporting young people at It’s a Knockout Family Day!

The event, held at the YMCA Village in Newark on 25th June, brought together around 1,000 people, including team members, supporters, and families, for a day filled with thrilling activities and community support.

Nathaniel Soderberg, Gym Manager at YMCA and team captain of the victorious YMCA team, said, “Each game in ‘It’s a Knockout’ was a fantastic demonstration of teamwork. I loved how every challenge brought us together, and it was a remarkable experience leading our YMCA team to victory.”

The weather was perfect, and the atmosphere at the YMCA Village was exciting as participants and spectators alike engaged in a wide range of activities. Families had the opportunity to enjoy free activities, including the crossbar challenge, soft archery, air bike 1-minute race, rowing, and the YMCA GaGa (dodgeball).

Ten teams competed in the ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition, each representing local businesses and organisations. The participating teams were Motorfinity, The Duck, GXO, Danny Purvis Football Academy, Newark Academy, The King’s C of E Primary Academy, Barcode Warehouse, Saint Gobain, NNYP, and YMCA.

Todd Cauthorn, Executive Director of YMCA Newark & Sherwood, was present throughout the day, “It was incredible to see the teams and families come together and thoroughly enjoy the day. The energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and it showcased the strong spirit of community in Newark.”

While the final total of funds raised is still being tallied as teams continue their fundraising efforts, there is still an opportunity for individuals to contribute and support young people in the Newark community. Donations can be made at
