Green Spaces
Helping families swap screen time for green time in the Newark and Sherwood district

Swap screen time for green time
Would you like to work on local green space projects as a family? YMCA is grateful to have been awarded £50,000 by the Social Prosperity Fund to deliver a new programme for families in Clipstone, Bilsthorpe, Rainworth, Blidworth and Ollerton from January to March 2023.
Enjoy being out in nature, make friends with other families, and build a sense of community while making your local area even more beautiful.
What to expect from the Green Spaces Programme
Giving Back to Nature
Help revitalise local green spaces through collaborative family activities such as bird box building and litter picks.
Family Time
Enjoy family time together in the fresh air, engaging with the local environment and community.
Community Connections
Improve mental and physical wellbeing, connect with other local families, and spend more time in nature.
Who is this project for?
In Ollerton, Clipstone and Bilsthorpe we have partnered with local Scout groups to deliver this opportunity with young people and their families.
For families in Rainworth and Blidworth, families can book on session-by-session. Families of all shapes and sizes are warmly welcome – grandparents, mixed households, everyone!
This cohort of Green Spaces is finished – thank you to everyone involved! Please watch this space for news regarding our next programme.
