Location: YMCA Newark & Sherwood, Community & Activity Village
Hours: 37.5
Salary: £20,500 

Job Purpose  

  1. Supporting the Hospitality Manager in the day-to-day running of the village café & conference space.  
  2. Providing excellent quality food and drinks service at all times, including for bespoke events and conference facilities.  
  3. Helping the Hospitality Team achieve targets, standards and meet budgets. 
  4. Supporting the Hospitality Team in setting up, setting down and delivering events. 
  5. Promoting a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Serve drink and food products efficiently and to a high quality, with an active interest and enthusiasm for products Supporting the Chef Team as directed to ensure smooth service between the kitchen and service. 
  2. Check and maintain stock levels throughout shifts, ordering stock as required.  
  3. Ensuring the Café and conference facility is clean and tidy, being mindful of COVID safe working practices. 
  4. Use commercial awareness to drive food and drink sales. 
  5. Supporting with the set up and take down of the conference facilities and providing refreshments to guests as required.  
  6. Coordinate the rota for the Café and Conference facilities. 
  7. Supporting recruitment and induction for all new starters, following HR processes.  
  8. Act as Supervisor for Hospitality staff including processing staff holiday requests and managing absence.  
  9. Checking the back of house events system and ensuring all booking and events are managed. 
  10. Motivate Staff to promote a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment. 
  11. Ensure all statutory and internal regulations regarding hygiene, safety and cleanliness are met. 
  12. Share positive and negative feedback with the Hospitality Manager so actions / improvements can be undertaken. 
  13. Any other duties as may be required by the Hospitality Manager.
