Head Chef

We have an exciting opportunity and are looking to recruit a Head Chef who will lead the team to provide all the catering at the brand-new YMCA Community & Activity Village in Newark.

As we embark on the opening of our brand new Community & Activity Village in Newark, our café and conferencing space will be one the central focuses for the Village and one of the first areas we open.

We are looking for a Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. You will be an instrumental figure in the setting up and running of this kitchen. Involved from day 1, you will recruit your new team, identify suppliers and work with the kitchen team to develop our menus. This is a truly unique opportunity to get involved from the beginning of a fantastic community project.

On a day to day basis, you can expect your role to include:

  • Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen
  • Providing excellent food quality and service at all times including for bespoke events
  • Ensuring the kitchen achieves targets, standards and performs within budgets
  • Developing and implementing new menus
  • Promoting a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment

If you have experience of managing your own kitchen and have always dreamed of being involved with the project from the beginning, this is your opportunity.

We are looking for someone who can share our vision of the venue and help to realise its potential; your passion in fresh food, quality and locally sourced ingredients as well as catering for a diverse customer base is the top priority as we open our Community Café and conferencing space.
