YMCA Robin Hood Group were pleased to take part in this year’s Pride celebrations, demonstrating its support for the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, other dimensions of gender identity and allies) community and championing equality, diversity and inclusivity.
This annual event is instrumental in encouraging greater acceptance, support and belonging for all, including those who identify or are perceived to be LGBTQ+, building safer and stronger communities for everyone.
YMCA is committed to creating safe spaces across Nottinghamshire where young people can belong, contribute and thrive, enabling them to reach their full potential, regardless of who they love or where they come from.Joining the city centre parade, YMCA staff were proud to march shoulder to shoulder with Nottinghamshire’s LGBTQ+ community, together taking a positive stance against discrimination and recognising their struggles while celebrating visibility and identity.
After the parade staff could be found speaking to members of the public about our youth programmes and services at a stall on Goose Gate, while the Malt Cross opened its doors to families for an afternoon of inclusive storytelling and rainbow craft activities with the YMCA team.
Here’s to looking forward to next year’s event
