Situated on the ground floor of the new YMCA Community and Activity Village in Newark and Sherwood, our nursery caters for children from three months to pre-school across six spacious rooms.
The setting also benefits from a fully fitted onsite kitchen, milk kitchen, sensory room and large, landscaped outdoor space for the children to run and play, they’ll explore the outside world making their own adventures with teepees, mud kitchen and allotments.
The environment is designed as a neutral, calming space where we encourage naturalistic learning and development.
Get in touchOur facilities set us apart, but what truly makes us different is our holistic approach to childcare and development. The YMCA ethos is centred around offering children and young people a place to belong, contribute and thrive and the YMCA Nursery will be the starting point on your child’s journey to building fundamental skills and values that will set them up for life.
Our child-centric approach puts your child first, supports them to find their passions, and builds a care plan that encourages and nurtures everything that is unique and special about them.
Just like you would do at home.

Our childcare is all about discovery, curiosity and adventure and we offer a wide range of activities for all our children, from messy play, to music, gardening, phonics and exploratory art.
We also benefit from the wide range of facilities on our doorstep in the Village in the climbing centre, football, outdoor sports, dancing and bike skills, to name a few. Having access to such a range of activities means your child will benefit from a programme of activities, designed to help discover their interests, develop new skills, and set them up for the future.

YMCA Nursery has our own fully fitted onsite kitchen and milk kitchen.
All our meals are freshly prepared and cooked onsite by our chef, catering for all dietary requirements.
And for the babies, we’ll follow your lead with their routine until they’re ready to explore all the delicious and nutritious foods we have to offer.
Get in touch
We are passionate about including parents and carers as much as we can with children’s learning and development. We will host regular parent, grandparent, carer or family drop-in day sessions where you can play and be involved in everyday activities with your child. We will also host a parents’ forum where we’ll work together to continually improve our offering for you and your child.
Leaving your child for the first time can be daunting, and so we operate an ‘open door’ policy where parents are welcome to speak to us at any time and your child’s key person will be there at the beginning and end of the day to talk to you and your child, ensuring that you are fully informed and confident that your child is happy, healthy, thriving and having lots of fun.

Care to Learn
Care to Learn is a government scheme that helps parents under 20 pay for childcare while they are in publicly funded education courses in England, including parents who were under 20 when they started their course.
If you have children under 5, why not access the extra government support of £160 per child per week and bring them to the YMCA Nursery at the Village? Our outstanding facilities and staff will nurture your children while you learn.
Care to Learn can help with the cost of:
- Your childcare, including deposit and registration fees
- A childcare taster session for up to 5 days
- Keeping your childcare place over the summer holidays
Childcare payments go directly to YMCA as your childcare provider.
